About Us

The Golf Club at Longwood’s teaching center is dedicated to providing innovative tools and teaching experience to improve the enjoyment of the game for all skill levels. Our teaching professionals have over 50 years of experience, and they have learned from some of the best in the game of golf. We also incorporate the newest technology to assist in our teaching and learning, as well as, our club-fitting. We utilize trackman and V1 Sports. We also have a full array of fitting carts from the major manufactures, Titleist, Ping, Callaway and Srixon to meet everyone’s needs.

We also have an experienced club repair facility. From regripping golf clubs to finding you the right shaft, David Weikman can assist you in all your club repair needs. Brian Smith

Sr. Instructor

Brian, a PGA Member, has been giving golf lessons and in the business for over 35 years. He has been a student of the game most of his life and really developed a passion for helping people play the game he loves while working under both Dick and Butch Harmon. It was in those years that it was impressed upon him the importance of solid fundamentals, a strong short game (his specialty) and the belief that every student is an individual and must be taught differently, although the fundamentals and physics of the game do not change from player to player.

Brian has been a strong player in the STPGA for many years qualifying for two Shell Houston Opens and multiple PGA Professional Nation Championships. Brian enjoys working with players of all ages and skill levels. He has worked with players from beginners to tour players to help them understand and enjoy this great game.

John Krause

Lead PGA Instructor at the golfcluB at Longwood 

John Krause is a graduate of Sam Houston State University, upon receiving his degree in business he also received a minor in Golf Management. Where he became PGA certified to improve this game in all aspects. He has been a PGA member for 11 years, a competitor of the game for nearly 25 years and a devoted instructor for 10 years.

John has instructed all ages and skill levels so that each player can better understand their game through the proper fundamentals. John believes with the knowledge of your game goals can be achieved.

John has helped grow junior golf in the Houston area by establishing programs such as PGA Jr. league, Fall and Spring ball, detailed summer camps and developmental programs. John also coached the Rosehill High school and Junior high team for several years.

Kelly Fitch

Kelly has been playing golf for over thirty years and faithfully teaching for over 15 years. Kelly was a four-year letterman in high school and was awarded a golf scholarship to play golf at Howard Payne University where he was a key member of their golf team. After a successful college career. Kelly entered the golf business full time.

Kelly believes that each student is unique and has their own strengths and weaknesses, thus each student must be taught differently. However, sound fundamentals are key to a better swing and key to shooting lower scores. Also, having a strong short game and a strong mental game goes a long way in becoming a better golfer.

Kelly enjoys teaching students of all ages and skill levels. Kelly has been a staunch supporter of junior golf for many years. Kelly believes that the future of this great game is in the hands of the junior golfer. Throughout his teaching career, Kelly has established junior golf development programs and instructed numerous junior clinics and junior camps. He has also been an instructor for P.G.A Junior League, Fall Ball, Spring Ball and has volunteered for the First Tee of Greater Houston.
